Ok so I have a big hole, can anyone enlighten me and let me know what should it look like and what am I missing. Is this something I can just fab a piece into or are there specific connections being made here? Thanks

You need the,
Outer cowl panel
Inner to outer cowl panel
Inner cowl panel
And you could prolly fab up the toeboard and fire wall pieces.
Rocker panel looks bad and the floor needs repaced.
Man, I'd look for a different cab!!

I guess one of my biggest questions is with the E brake, do I need that there? I know the inner fender walls connects to the stip of metal there, but the rest looks to belong to the E brake, if that is the case I can do away with that completely.

Also what does the inner cowl panel do that I cannot just make something out of metal?

If it wasn't for the rust challenge, the 2 month deadline would not be fun. haha.......

As long as you have the mounting plate for the inner fender you"ll be good. If your not running the e-brake I won't worry about the e-brake part of it.

I made my own inner cowl pieces, so not to difficult.

What is all that reddish brown stuff? I think I remember seeing that as a kid in Pennsylvania and in Germany while in the military. We didn't have it in the Colorado mountains or here in the Arizona desert. Seriously, if any of the rest of your cab looks like that, you may consider getting another cab.

The inner panels have ribs in them that will be hard to duplicate. Might as well just buy all the patch panels. I took lots of pic's of mine you can see here:

http://community.webshots.com/user/curt160

I'll guess you need about $800.00 worth of patch panels and lots of time and mig wire. As stated it would'nt hurt to look for another cab. Good luck.

Jackyl, for a minute there I thought you had taken a pic of mine...but its the wrong color. I would love to have a new cab..uh, I mean PANEL body. Not many of those around. Jackyl, its a shame your in New York. Not long ago a young man from Utah had a complete cab for sale cheap. Said it was in really good shape. I have bought some stuff from him and its been well represented. Check back on the for sale forum. If "cheap" is cheap enough mabye someone on the forum for transportation would be headed your way and you could work out something. Just a thought. I know what your going through. I'll have pics of mine up soon.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I actually ordered all the replacement panels that I needed, came to about 340.00 so that is not too bad and picked up some steel from a local yard to make a new floor out of. Pretty much that is shot too.
The mystery to me is how the cab is actually still sitting on the rails. I looked at the cab mounts or what should be the mounts and they are not even touching the metal of the cab. Well there is one more to be replaced and firmed up. I expect that in a month the entire cab will be back to normal at this rate. Scored some rust free doors(R+L With Shipping) from Ca for 269.00 so that was cool. I wanted this to be a cheap ride for my kids so cheap is always the best.
I picked up a 88 Caprice Police car and will start pulling the body from the frame next week. Probably get the flame swap started in about a month too so that should be fun.

brace the door openings before you take it off the frame or weld anything, they tend to warp when you are working on the floor. You want the doors to fit ok when you are done.
