Has anyone ever seen a spare tire carrier in a suburban like,this one ?
This is in a 1953 Suburban listed on ebay .

Haven't seen one Tim but "who knows"
It appears maybe someone took a tire well and put it in the floor. Whether its practical or not I can see the logic behind this.

Any chance it was used as a forestry crew-truck?

Just throwing out a WAG: an extra spare might be helpful way out/back/up in the woods. Take out the middle seat and move forward the rear seat. You lose 2 seats but can still carry 6 people and two tires?

I saw that for sale as well. Just so happens my wood floor is rotten back there anyway. Maybe a good excuse to try mounting the spare there?.....hmmmm.

Didn't they have the "wells" in cars for spare tires? Looks like someone did a custom job to fit their needs. I have a spare tire well from mid 80's suburban that I had ideas of doing the same but lined up behind rear tire inner fender since I relocated the gas tank to between the frame rails. Haven't done any measuring to see if it fits but like the idea.

The rear side windows look right to me , you just can't see where it curves because the whole view of the picture is cut off .
I cropped a picture of mine and it looks the same to me.

Maybe I'm missing something you're seeing ? Keep in mind that the trims and glass are not in that burb.
