I have question about old 1966 c60 5 ton I just bought. It has air brakes but like none I have seen before I'm used to more modern system. This one has single chamber brakes so it has no spring brakes. Can I put new spring brake Chambers on these axle. And can I put the new tractor and trailer valve on the dash like everything else has now.

A 1966 C60, is rated as a 2 ton truck. A C60H, is rated at 2 1/2 ton. Chevy didn't have a 5 ton truck until around 1969, or 70.

Hy c50_65, Yes you could convert the rear brakes to spring brakes, and you could do do the plumbing and add the valves and possibly another air tank to give you the tractor brake system.

Has it got a long extension tube off the backing plate at almost a 90 degree angle, with a small air chamber on the end of it? If so, you've got "wedge" brakes that can't be converted to maxi brakes. There are no S-cams inside the drums that the maxis need to work right.

They make spring brakes for the wedge type brake if that is what he has.
Dual chamber just like the cam brakes use.

Somewhere around 1966 is when Stopmaster brakes were introduced so it may or may not have them. I don't like them, but it is actually easier to put spring brakes on them than on many GM drive axles born with S cam brakes. Many of the GM setups simply don't have enough room got dual chambered brakes.

You really don't need another air tank. Mount a KN20031 valve on the dash. https://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/haldex-kn20031/valve-p-u55-kn20031

Tap into an air supply at the top of your air tank and run a line from it to the supply port of the KN20031 valve.

Run a line from the delivery port of the KN20031 valve to a quick release valve. https://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/haldex-kn32011/quick-release-valve-new-p-u55-kn32011

Mount the quick release in the middle in the rear of the truck. Then run rubber lines from each of the delivery ports to the port in the each of spring brake chambers. There is nothing complicated about air brakes.
People just try make it complicated. If you google Bendix, you can come up with schematics, but you can forget about most of the valves. I am assuming it is a straight truck or is it a truck tractor.
