Does anybody know how it would turn out to sand the frame, then brush on the black frame paint? I don't know if it would leave brush marks and I don't want to take it to a body shop just for the frame to be painted.

It should turn out just fine...a lot of people do it like that. I brushed POR 15 on my '52 frame and it came out pretty good...seems to be self leveling. Just don't put it on too thick. Lots of other good products out there as well.

A lot of the frame paints are self-leveling and look good brushed. Remember to never spray POR-15 without a positive pressure respirator. I used POR on the last frame I did (a jeep) and it looked fantastic. In fact, if you add some Xylene to it, it actually levels better and comes out glossy.

Instead of a brush, what about a small roller?

Zero rust goes on smooth with a brush. Thin it out a little.
A foam weenie roller would be good but you will need to cut in the tight areas with a brush first and roll over it before it starts to dry

POR-15 needs all kinds of precautions. Zero rust worked great for me with a brush, roller, paint gun, or aerosol can in any weather. It has a satin finish which I like on a driver. I brushed my inner fenders with zero rust and then clearcoated which turned out great. If you want the whole frame shiny then go with POR-15 or Endura.

This is what the results looked like on my '66 Chevy C20 front frame rails. I used Industrial Purple degreaser, a good scrub brush and some elbow grease in preparation before applying POR-15. I did all of this with a quarter of a pint of black POR-15 with a small detail brush in a few hours. I used the small detail brush, in order to get in the tight spot, as encountered with front suspension parts. I am very happy with the results, both appearance, durability and lasting protection.

i used rustoleum hammered black and its turned out great id really recommend it if you want durability, but some people dont like the hammered finish.

i wire brushed (6 & 8"" electric wheel brush as well as a hand brush) my frame before and after a couple times at the high pressure car wash/degreaser wash/ rinse. I preped the frame, then brushed on gloss black POR 15

and as far as I'm concerned if it lasts 20 years i probably won't be alive to care.

I had my frame sandblasted.. then it was sprayed with epoxy... afterwards, I sprayed it with tractor paint... but yes, you can brush it on if you want.. I've seen a lot of cars like that and they turned out really nice. Go for it!
