I have been really busy with a lot of projects and I just posted on the paint gun cleaning. I recently got the 3M PPS system which is really nice for quick clean up, and I am using it in a Devbliss Finish Line III which is a really nice gun, especially for the price.

Anyhoo, I finally got the bed prepped on my 72 project and shot the paint on it, and mind you, this was a paint job done outside in the weather. We had a calm day and I went for it (despite that, the wind of course, immediately picked up!).

I am very pleased with the results and this is the best I have laid paint on to date. The BPS paint is from Tractor Supply and I used Naptha to thin it and also put in their recommended hardner. After I painted a JD with it last year, I decided it was worth a go.

Please note, this is about 1/3 of a gallon, which is about $10-15 worth of paint!!!

That looks really good. What are you going to do to the floor of the bed? I noticed that you didn't paint it white.

How is last years JD paint job holding up. I am thinking about that paint for my panel .

I've posted this comment a couple of times, but the BPS Black is easy to work with too. I am using the tractor paint and so far, happy with the way it is turning out.

Why did I spend so much money for paint when your paint job looks so good at a fraction of the price? Live and learn. That is a really great looking paint job.

We'll have to see how it holds up. I had used Zero Rust with crystal coat on my 58 and that didn't last 2 years before the clear hazed up and the thing looked like it hadn't been painted.

I then painted the JD last year and it still looks very good. So that got me on to this paint for this truck. Who knows if it holds up, but a top coat sure won't cost much.

The bed is going to get spray in bedliner (Dupilcolor) once I get the cab finished and painted. I figured that I didn't have to worry about slopping the paint about in the bed when I spray on the booger liner. I used that same stuff in my 47 jeep on the flooring and it really made it look a lot better. I have already painted my big industrial rear step bumper in that bed liner, and I will probably paint my brush guard with it as well.

The brush guard was a nice find - someone down the block (about 4-5 houses) put the thing on the side of the curb for the garbage man and I saw it and thought 'wow that ought to fit my truck'. Sure enough it seems to have been made for it! I got the truck itself from next door neighbor sans engine/tranny for $100. AC bits all had been removed as well.

I didn't go perfect in the bondo on the thing mainly because with white, at 1 ft away you can't hardly see the problems anyhoo. However with the new finishline III gun and easy spraying BPS Gloss white, well, I am halfway proud of it!

As soon as I get the paint did I just have to hook up my TV cable for the 700R4 and fill it with goo, plus put in the radiator, etc, and it should be ready to rock and roll. It has a 230 I6 with clifford intake/exhaust manifolds on it so it should have ok POP off the line and good economy. Will eventually replace my car. I got 96 excursion seats for it too. AC, coil springs, and a hydramatic, man, you could take u a woman in that!

Btw, the grill was ugly, so I painted it in BPS gloss black. As too be expected, it current sits in the house behind my recliner in a place of honor. Should make any booger eat texas hillbilly proud. I also hope to get those black bed plastic bed guards and tailgate liner. So white with black accents.

I used the BPS black on my horse trailer this summer - as a test for the '59. It has NOT rusted back through, despite the fact that I only knocked the loose rust off and it is out in the weather 100% of the time. I am really impressed with it. The '59 should be wearing its own coat by this time next year!

Great looking job! I painted my 4t6 in Oct haven't posted any pics cause I still am having problems with digital camera. The color seems too dark. I painted mine with BPS International white a cream color with hardener. It has a deep shine. I had 1 run and some minor dust but it polished out. My 4t6 has been in garage for at least 3 years and finally seems I'm making progress. I will always promote the tractor paints as it makes an alternative to high dollar paints. As always my opinion do what YOU want to do.

anyone know if you can get the bps paint in flat black?

not 100% sure but john deere has flat black on em' so they could have it!

where do you get the naptha

The John Deere flat black is called Blitz Black. Do a search in the paint forum and on line and you will find a lot of info on it. It is what many are using for the black primer look.

I think Home Depot has naptha.

All box stores carry naptha a.k.a. vmp naptha ( varnish & paint maker's naptha)

What type of hardener did you you with the TSC paint and where did you get it? Our TSC doesn't carry a hardener.

I used the bps paints and Valspar hardener. The TSC had both. Pics below
