I have just acquired a ’66 Chevy Fleetside and want to restore this.
My initial question is: what color is the V-8 engine color supposed to be? I can’t find any information on this. Where can I buy this correct heat resistant engine paint?
I have a couple catalogues from LMC Trucks and Impalas.com both parts suppliers, but no engine paint information.

Some of the trucks did have 283's that were originally slated for a passenger car because of availability, thus there were orange V8's. Most people repaint them orange if they rebuild them.

all were black, other than a few that were slated to
be show engines...But the black engine paint used was a special formulated mix which is not available to the public...Its formulated to be used over bare
metal and to accept Hi temperatures...Black engines
were then put into all division brand cars, which You will recall Cadillac owners crying fowl over the use of Chevrolet engines in their Caddies, and other
brand GM cars...My 52 216ci is blue, and I have another recently overhauled 216ci that I purchased
