I can't make up my mind on this. Should I replace my gas tank to it's original spot behind the seat or replace it with a tank mounted underneath the truck box between the frame? It just seems that it would be safer to mount one between the frame. Than to put it in the cab behind the seat. What are your thoughts?

from Jim Carter: gas tank location

But, panel body truck still needed to place the fuel tank under the body, between the frame rails, and forward of the rear-end (as done in 1947 A-D standard-cab trucks).

I have been asking myself the same question. If I move it where do I put my spare tire?

Anywhere but under the bed would be a better place to put the spare tire. The reason those carriers are so rare is that they likely got left in the ditch after the very first flat tire.

?????

I do not understand: "If I move it where do I put my spare tire?"

In 1953, put it under the bed, or on the bedside, depending on your model truck.

Mine is still there and doesn't even have a tire on it since 1980.
