There was just a piece of wire tied to the plunger near the transmission lever. Also it looks like there is a spring in the pivot of the finger lever, which I think it's broken. Does anyone have some pictures of how the finger lever is connected to the transmission on a cabover?
Is the spring even available? Is the linkage available anywhere?

It should be a very simple part to fabricate if necessary. Once it's daylight I'll snap a few pictures. PM an email address to me and I'll forward some pics. No help on a cabover, sorry!

Jim Carter had those springs a few months ago. It seems all the transmissions with the reverse lockout have broken springs and the vendors get back ordered on them. It can be confusing to figure out the orientation when you replace it, so pay attention to what you got now. I can email you a picture of the proper orientation if necessary.

Am I to assume that you have a first design COE, not an advance design? If so, do you have any idea if you have an GKT 134 transmission or an SM 420? Maybe someone else can chime in on which transmission would be standard. I'm fairly certain that 46 was a cross over year for transmissions in the big trucks....

My little brother found me a NOS one still in the box. There is no spring, just like a choke cable mounted on the shifter stem of the trans.. A clip holding the cable on the side of the shifter and the end of the cable hooked to the lever under the shifter knob.
