When I learned about this size tire I don't recall any mention of this. Fortunately I have not driven it very much. JC have tie rod ends that are a 1/2-inch shorter for this problem. Has anyone tried this or what are the other options? Take the load off the axle and turn to the far right and left and see if the tires hit, if they do adjust the steering stops, if they don't, the tires are just flexing. Adjusting the steering stops limits the turning radius, so only adjust to clear the springs and no more | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 1,426 ODSS President | | ODSS President Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 1,426 | I put over 100k miles on two sets of Michelins in that size. Yeah, I got that rub occasionally when I parallel parked, not an issue.

I'll have to look in my manual to see how how to adjust the steering strips. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 | Thanks for your reply Cosmo. If needed we just weld a little puddle to the frame side of the stop.

Some one is borrowing my manual is why I ask. Do you have the steering stop on the knuckle on each side, held in place with the king-pin lock-pin: 6.009 STOP ? I have that size LT radial tires on my 54 31xx and they do not rub (original 6.50x16 wheels with 9/16" offset). | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 | Tim, My truck is all original including a standard/ stock front end . I can't answer the second question as my truck is at the body mans place. With the fenders removed, I can see the tire lightly rubs against the steel band around the spring when turned all the way. This is the best way I can describe it. Steve | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Steve,
If the stops are not there, you will get rubbing.
If the stops are there, I do not have any suggestions (sorry).
Good luck,
