1. 1953 Chevy 3100 with a 1962 253 engine. This is basically a retired farm truck, dents and all. I fixed it up for my dad and gave it to him in 2001. He gave it back when he couldn't drive it anymore. It is fun to drive and get a lot of complements.
2. 1954 Chevy 6400 grain truck. I just purchased this off of ebay and it will be delivered within the next month. It features a rebuilt 235, rebuilt brake system, rewired and converted to 12V, and a working dump bed. It has a single speed rear end.
The only flaws I saw in the photos were scratches on the front of the right fender and a chip under the filler neck. The VIN code indicates that this truck is a 6400 special, listed as a 1/12 ton GVWR is 15,000 lbs.
This brings up a question: I thought the 4000 series was the 1 1/2 ton series and the 6000 series was the 2 ton series. What (and why?) is a 6000 series 1 1/2 ton? According to the 1954 shop manual the 6400 has a GVWR of 16,000 lbs and the 6400S, as noted above, has a GVRW of 15,000 lbs. Seems like they are both pretty much the same.

You can find what you need right here in the garage forums. Just pick the one that best suits your needs and post there. For instance, the questions about the 4000/6000 series would be best answered in the General Truck Forum or the Big Bolt Forum. Not everyone drops by the welcome center each time they drop in.

I am not sure on your capacity question wither. I believe all the 6000 series were 2-ton trucks and 4000 were 1 1/2 ton but I don't know everything (VERY far from it actually!)
