The lower hood latch assembly on my '49 3100 is really worn and weak. Can someone suggest an aftermarket latch that is good quality? Don't really want a black painted one or chrome. Would prefer the zinc plated latch like the one I removed from the truck. Any suggestions or help with this would be much appreciated!

Why not put a good, used original back in? You should be able to find one here on "the 'Bolt". If not, turn to eBay.

Alvin,

Thank you for the offer on the lower hood latch. Took my hood latch apart and found a local welder friend who was able to build up the material that had worn on my latch. Planning to clean it up good and reassemble it. If it doesn't work after the rebuild I will definitely take you up on that offer. From what I understand the lower latch assembly was the same for 1947-1953 Chevrolet trucks.

Thanks again!

Tim
