Looking for advice on what's a good equivalent to the factory Harrison
I have a 50' pick up with a 54' truck 235
The radiator that was in the truck is no good and needs new core
I bought a Harrison from a fellow bolter and it ended up being Swiss cheese when pressure tested; the core and bottom tank leaked bad.
I checked all the major vendors for copper, brass unit
Everyone ranged from $359-$500
Car and truck shop, made by counterpart
Chev of the 40's, US Radiator
Brothers, won't disclose maker
Jim carter, doesn't know
Filling station, doesn't say online
Classic parts, 4 row only for chev truck
LMC truck, doesn't say online, but unit is $279; is this too cheap?
I want something good that will last

I have no problems with the one I got. Appears well made and I've ran it a few times. I think you can get one for the same price....they don't make them but have good prices. Mine also came with a nice good radiator cap. BUT it is aluminum and you may want to stay original, which will cost you as you already know. http://dillonradiator.com/Take your time and do the home work. Back when I bought the Desert Cooler original type copper radiator for my panel it came from JimCarter and I got a confession that it was. I also got my tranny cooler in it and the cost 3-4 years ago was just under 300 bucks but that was before copper went out of site. Good luck.

I believe aluminum is your only choice for a new, reasonable cost, radiator today. No matter where it is made.
I went through five new plus two repaired US made aluminum radiators before I got one that lasted through one season of car shows and several trips. They were not cheap. Two of them were from a well known company in North Carolina and cost $750.00 apiece. They were a custom fit radiator which drove up the price somewhat.

When I changed to an aluminum radiator, I had to purchase an electric fan since the clearance at the front of the engine was too small for the stock fan. Looking back, I would have paid the same price as all the parts I needed to do it stock.
