Howdy Folks,

About twenty years ago I was in an old pole barn and sitting forlornly in the corner was a 1946 1/2 ton Chevy (titled as a 1947). I said "Sell me your old truck Big Chuck". The answer was short and simple. Nope. Knowing Big Chuck as I did, I dropped the subject quickly. Talking with a mutual friend a few days later I was told it was the first vehicle B.C. ever bought and he would never sell it.
Never came around a couple of months ago and after extensive negotiations I'm the proud third owner of one funky old truck. No engine or trans, wrong rear end, fairly solid body and a good frame and every thing needs rebuilding.

So the question comes up amongst my friends. Is it a barn find? It wasn't lost, Big Chuck put it there and knew exactly where it was. It was in a Morton building (pole barn) but the building was never used for livestock or farm equipment. I did "find" it in a "barn" but don't know if I care what the discovery process was.

Well never mind that nonsense. When I get the photo bucket thing figured out, I'll post some pics.

Welcome!
You found it in a barn---close enough!
46's are cool trucks. What are your plans for it? Keep us posted.

Steve, congratulations and welcome to the Stovebolt. You'll find plenty of help here on your journey. Sounds like a pretty solid truck. My feelings are the mechanicals are easier than the sheet metal. Glad Big Chuck changed his mind and let you have it before the big tin monster crushed it up!

See ya around the garage forums.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks to those folks who run this site. It sure is a wealth of information.

I'm going to press this old truck back into service. Might take some time but I've already replaced the rear springs and related hardware and installed an axle from a 1956 truck after some slight modifications. Next up is getting the T-5 mated to the '57 235 and getting that loaded in to the truck.
