It only got better once I called the painter/mechanic and he sent me pictures of the cab with paint on it. I have been informed that I can pick it up next weekend! Now I will just need to get some help putting the parts back together and wiring! Soon she will be on the road again and driving in style.
Paint pictures are in my photo bucket!
Can you tell them I am getting excited?!?!?

Good on the Missions trip. Our daughter went to Pau Pau, NG when in high school to build nurses' quarters. It was hard but a great experience. I still have all the letters she wrote home. She wasn't suppose to tell us about any of the "difficult" stuff until she got home. Obviously, she survived all the difficult stuff ... and has ever since.
Keep loading up pictures!!
Don't forget your little treasure's, too!!

We spent the last 2 weeks in Uganda, dedicating Wells, medical missions, baptizing people, visiting people in the hospitals and praying with them, spending DAYS playing with kids. I got the pleasure of identifying, treating and saving the lives of 2 kids with severe malaria and numerous major infections that the doctors missed. I can tell you more in person over a few drinks.

He is working on restoring it after he is done with my truck.
John, I would love any help that everyone would give. My goal is to have it assembled and wire harness completed so that I can take my 88 year old grandfather out on his birthday during the Labor Day weekend. I am going to be trying hard, but not sure if I can get it completed.
By the way, wait till you see the plans for the wood bed! My buddy does custom work and is going to engrave the bed for me.

I need to line up the front end, etc.
I figured sweet would have her purring like a charm in about 15 minutes!

If you want since you live close, Woodbridge if I recall, we can get the driveline all ready so we can focus on getting the truck back together.

I would supply more then that! I have the springs, just took out too many and never put them back on. I was attempting to soften the ride a bit while adjusting the stance a bit.
Sweet, driveline should be good to go, but another set of eyes never hurts!

I have Friday the 12th off of work. Does this work for anyone that can assist with the sheet metal and other assembly that I don't know how to do? I will be going through the parts to ensure that I have what I need and not missing anything major.
John, Chassis is rolling, and complete with driveline, engine, brakes, etc all in place. I just need to add a couple of leaves.
Once I have a head count, I will be purchasing beer in the proper quantities required to get the job completed. Chris

Due to my friend having his kids this weekend (due to divorce) We agreed that since I have Friday off of work, I would pick my truck up next weekend and he would supply the trailer. If anyone wants to assist, I will start doing work on Friday after I get the truck home and Hopefully start the wiring harness and some assembly in preparation for starting the engine and final assembly with the ODSS crew!
Hope to hear from you all soon. Does everyone want to the the final assembly weekend on the 20th? Once I get a head count I will ensure that there is extra beer (more then a 6 pack) for everyone.

I know Hambone is anxious to participate. His oldest son heads off to college very soon - so that will take a chunk of his time somewhere.
Did you get to catch up with Sweet to see if you have all you need? I think that was the last discussion I heard.

You are in luck! We won't be able to put it together until SEPT timeframe. I am getting the cab and frame back on Friday. Hopefully I can get the whole fuel, electrical and engine (plugs, wires, etc) put back together. A week later I will get the hood and box back. 2 week from now I will get all the fenders. I was told that the painter was worried about overspray so he was unable to paint everything like he originally told me. At least I can start the wire harness and figure that all out since I have NEVER done any wiring in my life!

So far I have had the opportunity to use the tools that we recieved from my grandfather that were passed to him from his father. There was a note on them that stated they were made in 1939. Very cool!
Major learning note: No matter how hard you try to label everything, you can never label them exact enough! When you buddy does it and throws all the bolts into a box, it makes it even more difficult! Thank god for LOWES close to the house!
So far so good, going to attempt the electrical wiring on Friday and Monday. Should be interesting! After that (maybe during it) I might need some assembly assistance. I will buy enough beer that everyone can enjoy enough.
Time to prep a few smaller items that didn't get painted black.

You can come help do some wiring if you want and brake line bleeding with the hopes of starting the engine up for the first time in about 2 years.
