For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 | I found an original 1960's PS pump and brackets. The hoses are wrong. The PS pump and brackets came out of a car with the PS gear box INSIDE the frame and my PS gear box is OUTSIDE the frame. Besides that, the hoses are probably too rotten to use anyway.
I have the correct fittings from my 1974 gear box and the correct PS pump fittings too. All I really know is one side is low pressure so I guess that just uses a hose clamp. Can a shop make me a new high pressure hose? What kind of shop should I look for? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,236 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,236 | Some NAPA stroes can make hydraulic lines or just search "hydraulic hose" in your area. There is a place here in Spartanburg called Hydradyne that has hundreds of fittings and can make all kinds of hoses....it'll give you and excuse to check your gas mileage | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,995 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,995 | If you're in farming country most implement dealers and some of the farm supply type stores can make them. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Good advice is posted above. Try to find a hydraulic hose supplier in your area. One company in my area was quite rude to me, but another company, Omni Hose, Inc., repaired and assembled about 12 of the hoses for my COE - at a cost a little higher than the cost of the fittings. You might find some leads in this search-result. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 | NAPA and O'Reilly's make them to order.

I'll soon have the PS pump installed so this should be getting done by middle of May. Not sure how I will route the hoses but shouldn't be too difficult. Where to acquire the hoses was one piece of the puzzle I had not figured out yet. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Jay, as you will find out, not all major parts store do the same all over the states as with everything else. Around here O'Rielly and NAPA do not....at least not in my town, which is why I mentioned Hydrodyne. They may be a chain and close by??? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 | Alvin,You feelin slighted by this? just kiddin I find it hard to believe outfits as big as they are wouldn,t offer similar services thru the entire system. Here on The Island,We are blessed with Moreland Hose, Long Island Truck Parts, allsysemsbrakeservice.com to name a few. Never had an O,Rielly,s(don,t think theres any in NY) and 3 NAPA,S folded in this area in the last Year. Pep Boys,Advanced Auto and Auto Zone have pushed them all out not to mention all the old Mom and Pop Machine shops/Auto stores steve sr.

I have a very touch skin! I was actually saying that for Lugnutz benefit as we are friends and the stores I mentioned usually have one on every corner which means there is no need for them to put "some" services in every store. I always try to do local but as you mentioned, some of the great local stores are being pushed out. Advance Auto recently bought up CARQUEST but for some reason NAPA seems to hangon......and I mentioned this sometime ago that the counter help at NAPA are "almost" always brighter, meaning mechanically inclined, to know more about parts and what is going on than the rest put together and they are usually older, more mature, and stay on the job a lot longer! Not all...but most in my neck of the woods. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | If you have them in your area, Tractor Supply might be able to make them. I won't speak for all of them, but the one I have locally does make hydraulic hoses.
