Hello forum,

I just recently acquired an 1953 GMC 630 Van Pelt Fire Engine Build #510663. She has the 503ci 6cyl with a Spicer 5-spd, 1000H pump and a 500 gal tank. Originally a Civil Defense Engine assigned to South Placer Fire Protection District.

Currently she does run, but has no brakes and has to be restored. I have found some info via the big nut forum and will continue my search for part #'s etc.

I look forwards to this rebuild :)

Welcome Michael, always good to see some new (to us) firetrucks. Be sure to get into the "big bolts" forum and then scroll up into the volunteer fire department. I'm sure there's lots for you there and the others will be glad to see your truck. have fun with it!

GMC/vanpelt, that is one nice looking rig you have and looks to be in pretty doggone good shape. Even the dog fits the theme!

There is a sub forum here for the guy with fire engines so be sure to check it out.
There are a lot of bolters from your area so be sure to watch for them. You may have a bolter just down the street.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
