Hello fellow stovebolters.

Ive been searching for a Quality Bed for my 1937
Chevrolet truck. I called from Finland to Mar K
and they dont have a box made for it.They do have
nice products for other years plus free shipping in the U.S.A.
So can anyone guide us to a company that does make Quality Beds for this year.
I guess the original bed is in such bad condition that it will take forever and a lot of cash to redo it.

For those of you who have purchased beds for your truck your opinions will be helpful.
Are the parts U.S.A. made?

Are you happy with the quality of the bed from Mackhills? I did notice their site before but
didnt pay attention to the beds. I,ll recheck though.

Is anyone familiar with Pros Pick? They charge a lot for shipping and crating for sure but they look ok but again Ive never dealt with them.

I have'nt bought a bed yet but I think I will go with Mack Hils. Thats who Mar-k directed me to since they dont carry the beds for the 40 and earlier trucks. I've also seen the beds on ebay but they do not come with tailgate, side angles or middle crossmembers. I'm afraid of incompatability if I buy these parts from another supplier, and I think by the time you buy the additional parts it would be about the same $ anyway.

but I cant find photos of the bed or sides at
all.

Im also checking Pros Pick but to me they look
more "Hot Rod" or am I wrong.

I have a Mack Hil bed assembly on my 37 and it is nice. Side pockets welled on really nice and I also had them weld the metal strip on the inside of the bed sides. Nice job. Its been a few years ago when I didn't know where the beds could be purchased. Therefore I purchased the COMPLETE kit "through" Roberts Motor Parts. It came with the cross sills,oak wood, stainless strips and all stainless bolts. Nice kit. Back then, 1998 (?) it all cost $1200. I have no idea what the complete kit would cost now are if Mack Hil sends the wood with theirs or not. Finn, if you have any questions Joe Fuchs, which is the tech man for 37-38 pickups, in the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America can help. He lives in Texas. He has helped me with some technical questions. If you would like his phone # send me and e-mail as I don't know if he would like it posted here or not? He has an email address [email protected] Which is listed in the club magazine. I would also join the club (I did) as you get free advertising and they have a nice magazine Generator and Distributor. Just my two cents!

what questions will arrive that I,ll stumble on.

I guess my next attempt will be in the engine!

No problem Brian56, I received alot of help from the board members and do what I can to help others.

Mar-K supplied my bed. I am happy with the results and product. After receiving the lumber I questioned myself "Why did'nt I make my own?". On the other hand it could be a costly experiment if something goes wrong. The guy on Ebay wont make anything other than 67-72 short box wood.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I thought the ebay guy was someone else.

just for information is as follows:Complete Bed Kit 1/2 ton includes wooden crate - 1225.00 USD
thats for 1937-1939. Assembled 1550.00 USD

Spot welding of the stake pockets and side angles
to the bed sides is 80.00 USD (If Wanted)

They also have Beds from 1928 to 1972.
They can also build custom sizes.

I forgot to mention they dont carry the bedwood
bolt kits since they said people have been using
other types of ways of installing the strips than the most common way. :confused:

Hidden bolts maybe. Anyway...
hope this info helps someone else as well thats looking for a new bed for their truck.
