Well, I'll be jiggered! It's good to "see" you back on the Bolt, Mike. Believe it or not, John and I were just talking about some of the early gang over the weekend and your's was one of the names that came up.

Hope you get to the picanik ... I'm sure the BC gang will be glad to see you, too.

Hey Peg,
I still pop in now and then to look. I've been working on a '58 Fleetside and a '60 shortbox. As always, many irons in the fire.

Steve, I *have* seen your screen name every once in a while on the Active Topics list. I was also thinking about the Servicemembers project just last night, too. The fellow who coordinated it "over there" is now stationed at Annapolis, MD (hard duty!). That was a real good idea you came up with.

Will have to hunt down your posts to see what's shakin' with the '58!!

I still have a lot of Stovebolters phone numbers in my phone. Every now and then I get to talk with one of them. A couple of the have stopped by and had lunch or coffee. It's a Stovebolt World After All.

Have you been to 3Bs picky nick? I am trying to place a face. What year 261 is that and is a Canadian one? I am trying to learn more about all the different engines.

Hello Mike,
Post a link to some pictures if you can. Are the inner and outer side cowl needing patch panels? If they are I have done that and highly suggest you save the inner to outer piece, they call it the hockey stick, because the replacement ones are no where close to the originals. You will most likely find you will have to work the inner pieces too.
Good luck with your restoration. I just lifted the cab off my 1948 two ton.

Archiemark, Welcome to BC. Do you have any pictures to link to? Maybe 3B will have his picnic again this summer and you can drive to Chilliwack!

Hello BC Bolters:

I am a new member (at least trying to post notes and pictures) to this site, and have a 1938 Chev pickup that was my fathers farm vehicle in Alberta. I am now just finding time to start a project restoration of this truck, at least as a daily driver.
I see there is a Stovebolt member that is located in Penticton moving from Alberta, just an hour North of here.
Penticton is holding the annual "Penticton Beach Cruise car show this coming weekend, with a sold out limit of 800 cars.
I am having trouble posting pictures here, but will give it a try later.

Hello TS Coachworks. Do you plan on coming over to the mainland on the 13th for a get together at 3Bs in Chilliwack? PM me if you are and I'll give you directions. I guess we should meet on the island some time. We did it years ago and should probably do it again.

Good day all,

First post as a new bolt owner. Just picked up a 49 GMC 1 ton truck yesterday. Going to be looking for parts (S10 frame, short box, etc.)

Thought I'd introduce myself here. I'm from Kamloops and me and my father are both long time car guys.

Hello Flat Black,
Hope it isn't too smoky in Kamloops area. Heading up to Sorrento on Saturday. Good luck on your new project. What's going to power this truck?

Hi super55,

We've been really lucky lately. The smoke has mostly cleared in the last week or so. We have some haze but nothing major. Sorrento is really nice.

As for what's going to power it, I have several ideas. Various LSX's with and without turbos, but I also have the idea of an LL8 atlas motor to keep it true to its heritage, but with the requisite turbo.

I have a million different ideas for it, just need to get them all to coalesce in to one cohesive plan lol. Good thing I'm still in the planning stage huh?

Thanks for the welcomes guys,

Is there anyone local that has a bunch of AD trucks around for parts or anything that I might be able to get in touch with? Specifically looking for a bed and running boards/splash aprons. Mine were cut when they fitted the dump bed.

Thanks

There are quite a few on-line companies - Jim Carter, Chev's of the 40's, Mar-K, who sell complete bed kits. Finding an old one still in reasonable condition is pretty difficult. Unless you are a body shop guy, repairs to the old ones can be pretty expensive.
As for running boards - really a problem if you want the original look with the " corrugated " surface. There are a few outfits that sell reproductions that are a smooth surface in fibreglass

Figured I would introduce myself here. Still finding all the parts of stovebolt.com
I recently got a 54 GMC dump truck and have been fixing everything to make it drivable again.
It came with two 6 cyl but both were not in running condition and I had a fully rebuilt 72 350 set up for propane which would be easier on maintenance and no old gas to gum up carbs n stuff.
I drove it for the first time the other day and had a huge grin all day.
Now , I am chasing down many electrical gremlins and soon will get it inspected and registered( it came from washington)
BTW once I am done I will have two leftover engines if anyone wants them or parts from as I will not want to keep and if no one needs anything then off for scrap I guess.
They are a 248 (the original) and a 270 I believe. If anyone needs anything let me know and otherwise

Hello Corey,
Paul here in Maple Ridge. Welcome to the board. Have you put some pics of your truck up on the gallery? What transmission have you got in that truck? Keep checking in from time to time. There is a picnic, usually in June or July.
Cheers!

Hey BC Bolters. I am now retired and have more time to play. Unfortunately to support my car/truck addiction I have to thin the herd. Need to sell one of two trucks. Offering to BC Bolters first as they are most likely to appreciate them.I'm in Abbotsford. 1952 GMC 3/4 ton restored to stock. 1946 Chev almost road ready. I love them both but one has to go. New to the forum so hopefully this is OK and I did it correct.

Hello Mitch, hope you have plenty of anti-freeze in your 52. Do you have a picture in the Stovebolt gallery? By the way do you know either of the Chramosta boys, Jimmy or Denny? They live in Fort St. John, but grew up two houses down the road.

Are there any stovebolters in Haida Gwaii? My son has been up there in Masset with his '67 Chevy C10 for the last several years.
