What was the original color of the headliner of a 1950 3100? Did the sun visor match? Did the armrest come standard or did you have to pay extra? Thanks for any correct info.

The color on the headliner (supposed brown) since I have never owned NOS I cannot comment on. The reproduction color is most surely brown and matches my reproduction seat cover closely (I believe some vendors offer other colors)?

The visors which I have owned NOS are not the same brown as my headliner, they are actually more like the interior paint. However the reproductions (seen in photo) are a match to the headliner.

The RH visor is a fairly rare item and was a dealer furnished accessory, they would install or the customer could.
The armrest was also a similar accessory and this one you can see is definitely brown (I believe Luke/fonz8261 owns this actual NOS one).

The NOS color is more brown than the maroon/burgandy reproduction armrest.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to order the correct red seat and door panels but the project didn't come with the old headliner to figure out the color. It's going to be a very colorful 3100!

The headliner I bought from bowtiebits.com was the best of the three that I bought from other vendors and it appears to be a pretty good match (for cardboard).

Are you referring to correct red as in red-red or burgundy/maroon red?

It is probably not what you are looking for as it is mostly brown with a very slight reddish tinge to it.
The fit was more important to me after trying a couple of others and reading the other posts regarding poor fit.

I'm wanting the truck to look like it came from the factory. I'm confident I have the paint right but am having trouble figuring out the cardboard headliner and sun visor. I have one original door panel and it looks maroon with black in the recessed grain. I bought the brown seat and door panels but they don't look right so I'll send them back and try to make it correct.

Here's a shot of my '52 GMC door panels that are covered with fabric from SMS. door panel The backer is ABS plastic. None of the reproduction door panels come close to matching the original embossed grain pattern and color. I used this same SMS fabric to cover the seat and I think it comes much closer to matching the original fabric than the pre-stitched seat cover from Jim Carter.

I had a local upholstery shop stitch them and using your photos as a guide, had the same shop cover the springs with burlap, coir and the seat covers using the original barrel clips. The seats are firm but comfortable.

They turned out really nice. Sounds like you used about the same
build up they did originally. I've found that to be quite
comfortable and as you say, firm as opposed to the foam
most of the upholsterers are using.
