That is what I have under the fenders of my trucks.
However, if you have a lot of gravel roads (and/or gravel that makes its way onto the roads), an additional layer of a rubber compound may add a greater degree of protection.
There is not much gravel up here in NY, but I am moving to NC and I hear the gravel when I drive down there. I might be adding a rubber-like undercoat to my Suburban (and to my other trucks that are not yet road-worthy). | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 177 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 177 | i put por 15 on the fenders for rust protection. i then spray a good coat of 3m rubberise under coating over the top of the por. you can paint over the under coating if you want to match the truck | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | POR-15 will not prevent rock strike stars, I found that out the hard way. I would suggest some sort of rubber spray coating. I used one from Rustoleum, any brand should do, and it did make a difference. I haven't had any further issues with stars from rock strikes since I sprayed them.
