Well, "Ethyl" is finally home, after being hospitalized for several elective cosmetic surgeries. Basically she got a total makeover, losing about 900 lbs in the process! You see, Ethyl used to be a big girl, a ton and a half if you can believe it! Found a military-issue (? - not sure) 1942 chassis and had all the driveline rebuilt, and any metal-to metal either rebuilt or replaced. Even found new (NOS) gears for the rare differential - from Canada! Wow. Installed an S-10 5 speed with help from Vintage Metalworks for the adapter plate and shifter extension. Decided on the practicality of a flat bed which got a lot of modifications to make it look more original. Inspiration was a Chevy dealer's 1946 advertisement photo. http://s1308.photobucket.com/user/JohnRTon/media/Rascal%20Ethyl_zps371ywwft.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

Stovebolts are like women; as they mellow with age, it's harder to get 'em to turn over on a cold morning, but once they're warmed up, LOOK OUT!

John, nice job. I can hardly wait to see it with the bed on it. Keep up the good work and the pictures coming.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
