Well, for anyone interested, Mike and I are here at the Super 8 in Riverside. Made stops at Jim Carter's and 4-5-6 Chevy. we are going to relax for a while then go out for supper.Anyone needs us give a shout!

Oh great. I think Shelley will be there tomorrow with the t-shirts.

John said he already got calls from Mongo, Don, Wayne Alderson. Please tell Jim Carter I said hello. He usually gives John and I a pep talk every year ... and I will miss that, among other things.

Unfortunately my check-in is almost half way there and got the dreaded phone call from the rail road....all hands on deck no exceptions all weekend. One time in 10 mo I plan something it goes up in smoke. Have fun be safe in your travels

Probably guessed by now we aren't gonna be there....we got a foster care placement on Thursday & don't have prior approval for taking him out of state.....happy about the placement but bummed about not being wit everyone. ...hope all is going well....see 'ya next year

I would like to have made this but have a prior commitment this next week down south in Alabama. I will try to make it next year, maybe meet some of the people I have visited with on the forum.

Hawk ... Shelley said we can get more shirts. I will have to call her tonight and see how many we can get at a time. Pat Wahl has the rest of the shirts (if there is any rest). Will post it once I get word. Hopefully Shelley can mail them for us ... or someone needing community service work

Steve, hopefully as things continue to evolve, there will be more meet 'n greets here and there. When the GABFests first started happening a while back (see the Events link), we figured folks could meet nearby for a while; and then occasionally come to the middle of the country, expanding their Bolt connection.

Peggy, hope to maybe make next years doings. I am so far away from most of the other members it makes it hard to have anything around this area. We don't have a group for the area I'm in, probably because there are no members up here besides me. Anyway I am thinking I can make it to the next shindig. Not sure about bringing the old truck IF it is done by then, long way to run an old 2 ton.

You never really know who is around there. I still am surprised at the emails I get to the site from people who are generally in this area, but we have never met or seen. Even where John works at the base. They had a "drive your classic to work" day last month ... and there was a nice old Chevy truck in the group. Never knew. And he never heard of us ... imagine that? LOL

I know a guy that drove a Ford to the last 6 Reunions, The last two times, he parked right in the middle of the group, and was welcome.
This year, one guy had a Goldwing and parked next to the Ford.

Diversity is the word.

After stopping by the Stovebolt group for the second year and having visited the forum lists for 3 plus years, I decided that I ought to register. The lady at the stand said for me to sign in, so I did, and I got to see the Hotrod Lincoln instructing. My trucks are 52 Chevy 3/4 ton, 86 Chevy 1 ton, 2013 Chevy 3/4 ton and my anvil is an Armstrong 156 lb.

It takes three or four posts before you can get PM's and access to the Greasy spoon which can be real entertaining.

Did you stay for the anvil chat and meeting?
Bring a lawn chair next year and sit a spell.
Watch the clinics or jump in and do one yourself.

I didn't stay too long as I was wanting to make it to the antique engine & tractor show in Ottawa, KS too. As it was, after turning my ankle on Friday, I was through walking after visiting the truck show, and I went home. I didn't stay for the anvil discussion as about all I can say is they are heavy. Mine is wrought iron with a nice tool steel top and a good ring. I was offered a 450lb. anvil once, if I could pick it up and carry it out to my truck. Needless to say I was sized up before the offer was made.

Other blacksmith tools in shop: Champion 400 blower, Canady Otto #19 post drill, Little Giant 25lb. trip hammer, Edwards #5 shear, cone, swage block, and a couple of post vises.

If you come out our way next year, the tractor show is all day Friday too, so you could make that and then the truck show on Saturday. Stay around till the next weekend and Ottawa has a car show also in Forrest Park. There will be 2500 to 3000 cars and trucks there.

If I get my 52 3/4 ton going, maybe next year I will sit and stay for a while.
