Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 5 | Can anyone tell me if there were different castings, and therefore casting numbers, for the early '54 engines with the small-journal camshaft vs. later '54 235 engines with the large-journal camshaft? I have a '54 from a 3100; the block is cast "3835911" and by the look of the distributor gears, it has a forged i.e. small journal shaft, yet I see this casting number listed for the '55 1st series as well, which post dates the change to the large journal cam. Was the same casting used for both?

Not sure if engine cast number will tell you what size the camshaft journals are used in the engine. Check Here B Group number 0.519 camshafts Scroll down page you will see bearings.
