Can anyone tell me if there were different castings, and therefore casting numbers, for the early '54 engines with the small-journal camshaft vs. later '54 235 engines with the large-journal camshaft? I have a '54 from a 3100; the block is cast "3835911" and by the look of the distributor gears, it has a forged i.e. small journal shaft, yet I see this casting number listed for the '55 1st series as well, which post dates the change to the large journal cam. Was the same casting used for both?
