Got all the fuzzes in which was easy, then come the window easy again, but the vent window frame, what a pain in the butt. It took me 2 hours and a lot of blue air and paint scraped off and still not in. A friend happened by and it took the 2 of us another hour just to get it in and the glass in the track. After he left I worked another 1/2 hour just to get everything to line up. Is there a secret to getting the vent frame in or is it just a pain? 53 3100 root

Don't feel bad. I had to pull my vent out several times due to window cut wrong, skinned the paint off the vent frame and list goes on. It is a PAIN but so help me, after about 4 or 5 times I could slide that sucker down in there and get it in the channel no sweat. I would advise taking your time and maybe talking to yourself a little along the way. You can do it.......your are putting the window in first and then the vent window aren't you?

Yes Iam putting the window in first. The drivers side went in easy, first I used some foam rubber i had and centered the window in the door frame then i started the vent frame in the door, lining up the channel with the window. Keeping the window in the vent channel and the rest just fell in place. Boy, just lucky. Now i may have to pull it out again because the vent window handle came off. anyone have a fix so i don't have to pull it again? 53 3100 root

root, you should be able to fix the vent window HANDLE with out pulling the assembly.

The stud that the handle fits on is what pulled out of the frame. I thought about JB weld, but it would be under tension and not compression, so I don't think that it would work. I'am thinking about trying to tack it with MIG. I will protect the truck and the glass with alum.tape and cardboard. Also will tape some copper next to the welding area and hope not to crack the glass. Has anybody done this before? 53 3100 root

Surely someone would have a vent window if you post in the Parts Wanted Forum.

I have a friend that has 2 of them, but you have to take the vent frame out to change the the wing window, because of the spring and washers or shims that are under it, than the glass. root

I migged the pivot post in mine but while it was out of the truck not while installed.
Once you get the hang of the sequence the windows aren't that bad to R&R.
I learned by repeated efforts repeating themselves.

Well I pulled the trigger, migged the post in with the glass installed, glass still good. Ground, filed, sanded and painted. Tomorrow I will install the handle, back in business. Thanks for all the input, this sight rocks. 53 3100 root

Best layed plans of mice and men. It broke after the 3rd opening. So it looks like I'am going to have to remove it. S__T Going to take out to friend place and try to tigg it. root

If it broke out of the hole in the frame, I'd pull the glass and tack on the inside, Did that way 35, 40 years ago when the glass shop I worked at had several fleet accounts. The drivers would run the CB coax through the vent and spring or break the handle pivot. We brazed them then. John

Tigged it, open and closed about 30 times, then reinstalled the frame,good to go. root
