For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 | Hi, Thanks for adding me to Stovebolt. I live in Nevada and rescued my great grandfather's 1929 Chevy 1.5 ton pickup.
I recently picked (5/24/15) it up from our ranch in Yerington, Nevada, where it has been sitting (exposed to the Nevada weather) since 1950. It has been in the family since 1929.
Most of the vehicle is complete! It has a broken universal joint, missing 1 steel disc wheel and is missing some of the handles and knobs. There are only 2 small holes (about the size of paper clips) where the cab is rusted through (mice in rear corners).
My dad learned to drive at the age of 6 (1946) in this truck. My grandfather would put him behind the wheel and put the truck in granny low. He would proceed to get into get into the back and feed the cattle while my dad "drove" in an open field.
Anyway, I didn't realize, until just recently, how rare of a find this is. I'll keep you informed of the restoration.
Thanks Anthony Manha

I'm sure you'll find tons of information, and guys willing to help. I like the '29's myself mainly because they came with the 6 cylinder in them. Be sure to visit the guys in the BIG BOLT FORUM. Ask questions in the forum closest to what you need and let the guys here help you out. Stovebolters are World Wide so I'm sure you have some close to where you live. Watch for them.
....and a few pictures as soon as you can. AND, start you a thread in the DIY FORUM where you can start a build thread and update it as you go along. Many of us here like to follow along as you go on your journey. We are here to help.

Good luck with the restoration. Jim | | | | | Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 | Nope. No bullet holes. It was a farm truck in the middle of our dairy. If someone would have been shooting on our property around our cattle, I'm sure my grandpa would have shot back. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2015 Posts: 5 | Thanks for all the advice. I'm sure I'll be on here a lot. The only thing that worries me; finding a steel disc wheel with 10 bolt holes. I'm sure I'll be checking out a lot of the swap meet stuff.
Any other ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

A lot of guys check there as often as the other forums. SOMEONE has what you need or KNOWS someone who does If not hits at first you can "bump" the post up a few times to make sure its current for those who may be just signing in. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,897 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,897 | Welcome to the 'bolt... you are in the right place for this sort of sickness.
As chipmunk stated, get into the Big Bolts forum for that 1.5 ton... and the engine shop to get it running...
Be sure to explore the links and tech tips sections as well.

UPDATE: I found not only the original 10 bolt, 20" wheel, but also the spare. Yes, that's right. 2 of the original wheels! I also found out that we'll be able to reuse the original gas tank AND radiator after a little cleaning and maintenance. So, it looks like it has all the original parts; just a broken u-joint.
I'm SOOOO excited! I gotta get some picture links posted. Just be patient. It's in incredible condition for sitting out in the elements for 65 years. Thank goodness for the very limited humidity in Nevada. The lack of humidity has preserved this relic from the past.
Stay tuned for more updates. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Anthony, sounds great man. Keep trucking!
You may want to start a "build thread" in the DIY Forum where everyone can follow along as you make updates to let us know what is going on. Not everyone comes in through the Welcome centre each time and may miss your post. Great work. Ask questions in the garage forums if you need any specific help.

I'll do a build it thread. I do have some good news and some bad news on my great grandpa's 29' Chevy.
The good news: My dad was able to find the original title!
The bad news: The truck is NOT a 29' Chevy. It is a 1932 Chevy. It was built in Oakland, California in August, 1932 and was the 2,409th vehicle off the line. The title was last signed by my grandpa (passed 1980). (1981 probate to my dad) Title was never transferred to my dad because it was inoperable. DMV wants it to go back through probate (34 yrs later) in order to give me title. I might be headed to court with title, notarized affidavit (from my dad), and grandpa's death certificate. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | Thanks Chip!
