Chevrolet truck engine? Can they still be ordered from a GM dealer?

I do not gamble, but I'd bet is is no longer available from GM. There are, however, a few GM NOS parts vendors with on-line catalogs. I cannot find a URL. A few years ago, I found 50 NOS, GM/GMC-only, big-bolt wheel nuts. I'll look tomorrow (but, I still doubt you'll find one). | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | Do you necessarily need a balancer with the hand crank lugs?
I have built up a new balancer using a 6" diameter item for a small block V8 and a 2-groove pulley for a big block engine. It requires just a little machining to make the pulley grooves align properly, but the assembly is made up with all new parts. Jerry

Most Salvage yards in the US have a BatPhone. You as the customer ask for a part, the yard you went to doesn't have it, they put the request out there over the BatPhone and someone answers. It would be a fun journey to the yard anyway! Take a puller made for it to save time! I had it rebuilt by the previously mentioned Damper Dudes. They happen to be local and as I walked in the door with my old damper, only halfway to the counter the Dude says Chevy 216. I knew I was in the right place. Finished product was like new. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 |

A consideration before trying to put a 216 HB on the newer 235/261 (with 12v) would be the pulley width. I am not sure if the pulleys are the same diameter as the newer engines. | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,915 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,915 | There's a reason why the 216 and 235 didn't use the same damper. | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | Thanks again! | | |
