what are the little v shaped piece that are attached to the inside of the windshield trim /molding .do you need them

They finish the top and bottom, this piece was phased out by mid-49, I like them so I added some to my '50. The early style surrounds carry a small tab they screw into that the later versions do not, they went to just a flat tab like these pictured.

[m talking about a little piece v shaped that goes between the molding and the cab. it sltdes in the back of the molding . all I can think of is it was to prevent tighting the molding down to much

You are correct they are spacers/anti-squeak, made out of a hard foam like material. I would think it would be a good idea to replace them with similar.

Any pictures of those?
I haven't taken the inside windshield garnish off my '50 and
it looks like it's collapsed in a few spots.

Pictures would be good all my trim has been removed and I didn't find anything other than some dried up rubber I assumed was for anti-squeak, and a couple of spider nests.
I defiantly don't have the trim pieces Brad posted, but I do like the look and will see if I can find some.

Any body have a pic of what the center clips attach to was there a moulding clip or what or maybe an Idea of how to attach them. My understanding is they come from {37 to 39 car} and {truck 48 and 49} not 100% sure, any feed back would be appreciated

There were a couple metal type "spacers" on my 52 panel. From what I could tell it seems they went where the windshield defroster slots are cut in the trim/moulding. It will keep you from tightening the screws there and caving in the trim.
......I'm probably wrong but just my guess and that's what I did with the ones I had.

The small trim pieces used from 1947 to mid-49 were attached to the small tab shown in picture two. These tabs are part of the inner windshield trims and were eliminated when the change was made to the small flat cover.

Those little "V" shaped clips, or as mine were "W" shaped clips go on each side of the defroster vents in the molding to support the molding for strength. The area were the defrost slots are is open and much thinner than the rest of the inner windshield molding. Of course, these clips are no longer available....even after market, so I made new ones from the metal wires from paper binding clips. Just keep one of the old clips for a pattern.

Hi Brad could you please when you have time send me a pic of the clip that you use on the top and is it identical to the bottom one I have 5 clips they look almost the same but they are a tiny bit different. thank you in advance
