Since most of the rust and old paint is now gone, I figgered it wasn't quite as ugly as it had been to start with:

All the body panels have been primed with Zero-Rust and most of them painted in satin black.
The biggest hassles were replacing the rocker panels and repairing the "tire inspection openings" in the floorboards. I fabricated patches from galvanized sheet metal and pop-riveted them into place, then sealed things with silly-cone.
If I was doin a 100 percent show restoration, I sure wouldn't do things this way. But I chose to take a low-tech, rat rod approach, since this is still gonna be a work truck and driven in the winter.
And with all due respect to HotRod Lincoln, I chose to drop the nose into the weeds, just for the pure hell of it. My logic is that I'm not a young kid learning how to drive with a modified vehicle. I've been doing it for 40 years. And if it rides rough...well, that's my problem.
I'll prolly drop the rear end a couple of inches to balance things out.
Ohh...the moon discs are gen-U-wine Dean Moon articles from the 60s. I decided to give them a try and I decided that I like 'em. So they'll stay on for a while.
There are more pics and narrative about the process starting on
this page .
Now I just gotta get the driver's side door back on, the interior painted and then swap the intake and exhaust...and it can head back on the road.
