Bought a gauge cluster assembly from LMC Truck for a 1950 Chevy 3100. There are two Warning! stickers on the box and one on the square nut on the back of the oil pressure gauge that state:

"WARNING! Square nut on back of oil gauge must be secured before attaching oil line. Failure to do so may result in damage to gauge."

That nut looks really secure to me, as shipped. Is this warning us if we take it apart or do the three warning labels imply that we need to do something else to it? Confusing. I called LMC and they offered no meaningful information. Any thoughts?

my GUESS would be that they have had complaints by owners that tighten the "threaded tube nut" on the oil line so tight that they twist the square nut then complain.

I think to make sure it is "secured" would mean to put an open end wrench on the square nut to hold it while tightening the tube nut. Just my opinion.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

That is what it means to me. I have over 30 years experience in aircraft hydraulics and I know better than to not use back up.

Ah, now that makes sense. Thank you for clarifying!
