Ive gotten a couple quotes so far that I think are excessive. 6-8 hours I could and have done it with a wire wheel in that time.
Any recommendations ?

Dale P had someone do his firetruck -- maybe he could recommend?

A guy near me "Mac's Garage" does a very nice job, price in my experience has been fair but not cheap. Could you send me the contact info when you get a chance or the location so I can search? I don't mind spending the money for good work. I'm going to check a few places and see what they say maybe I'm wrong about the time it should take. Right now if I go with either place its the same price because of the different labor rates.

I had my frame blasted one place (I forget where, nothing special either) and powder coated at a different place in WV, ASAP Powdercoat. In a somewhat recent coversation with the owner he mentioned a Mennonite guy who does sandblasting just down the road from him at a very reasonable rate. I have been thinking of using heavy equipment paint its tough, cheap aka free I have some from a place I used to work, and is easy to touch up. I'm keeping my options open though. Powdercoat is tempting but its not as easy to touch up and will suck if I decide to make changes down the road.

It's a frame, so you dont have to worry about warpage.
I had mine done in an hour, it's a 2 1/2 ton truck frame 21 feet long & very heavy. The guy I had do it charges $225 an hour.He had his guys do it in about an hour. He only charged me $200, because I know him.

I found that the price was a lot less than just media blasting. This LINK has some information on the process. | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 45 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 45 | Another option would be to have the frame galvanized, Check out THIS PLACE in Ashland VA. I priced just buying all the stuff to do it myself and have also talked to several places. A couple told me 1 1/2 -2 hours , one offered to blast it while I wait. In the end no mater what direction I go a finished frame will be roughly the same price. I did talk to a guy that I will probably go with. He was straight up with me, made suggestions on options to save me money, how to do it myself, and even told me of competitors to check with.He was also one of the better prices for a painted frame. I will update when I get it done and see how it turns out.
