I regretfully threw away the original door hinges and I am having all kinds of problems getting the doors lined up with new replacement hinges. Also, I am now thinking the replacement weatherstripping is not helping. Does anyone know if I should try to find original hinges? Is there a better weatherstripping than what I got at the Truck Shop in Orange, CA? It would be nice to get the doors adjusted then put the weather stripping on and let the door pressure "set" the rubber...and the doors will be tight!
I've read lots on door hinges and my opinion, along with lots of others, is that good originals are better than most new ones. If its any comfort to you I think its safe to say that 99% of us have problems getting the doors "like we want them".
I'm sure others with more experience will chime in.... and by the way, my doors on the panel still don't close "like I want them"! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,271 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,271 | You will have great difficulty in adjusting the doors with the door seal installed, regardless of which hinges you use. I would remove the seals and try to adjust what you have. Keep in mind that it is a challenge to take off a perfectly fitting door, then reinstalling it to fit as perfectly as it was to begin with.
That is why we all truly hate doors. All of us.

Think U___U shaped with a 2.5" piece of pipe that slips down over the floor jack welded on the bottom.
That's not what I did but it's the idea.
I thought it made the fine tuning much easier...
Easy to slide out of the way to test close and it holds the door 'where it was' even swung wide open. (unless your lift leaks)
