Hey everyone out there, new to the site. Name is William from michigan been in the navy for 10 years I am stationed in the Central Valley CA. Started a project 1951 chevy got a great deal on the truck but it's a 3600 I want a short bed 3100 in general. I want to try and do the frame mods myself been doing a lot of research and it does not seem to difficult just looking for some pointers. Just a quick brief about the truck plans. I have a 1971 nova taking the sub frame off for the truck, as well a munci 4 speed, an a 369 BB, the rear end is coming off the nova and going underneath. Not much work to do other wise just so basic things like glass, trim, and a lot of little work like cleanin and painting. Thanks for any Help given glad to be on TheStove

Since you are modifying your truck with a sub-frame and BBC your help and questions will probably come in the Hi-Po forum. Good luck on your project and welcome to the "Bolt".

Just about everything on the 3600 chassis is extra heavy duty when compared with the half ton. If it were me I'd find a half ton to hot rod vs the 3600. These half tons are just about everywhere here in the Central Valley. Also one of the largest swap meets in NoCal is held in Turlock in Jan. you don't want to miss that.

Best of luck

William, best of luck and welcome to the STovebolt. The guys are right about asking questions in the other forums as not everyone that comes here each day check in here at the welcome center but go to the forums or their expertise. You will find what you want/need here. Take a little time, check out the gallery pictures, tech tips and links. There is so much here it almost baffles our minds.
We're here to help and there are lots of bolters in Ca. so your bound to run into some of them.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
