The Stovebolt Site Forums Welcome! Welcome Centre New guy with a '37

I've been a long time browser, but just registered yesterday. I will be slowly working on my 1937 Chevy truck. It's what I believe to be 100% original, aside from the tires. I believe I'm the third owner of the vehicle, the second owner actually being a distant relation to my step father. It was made in December of 1936, in the Janesville, WI plant. I think the original owner used it as a truck for his upholstery business, my distant relation bought it sometime back in the 50s and used it on the family farm and it's never left. It was parked in 1965 in their barn because it needed brakes. I bought it this year and moved it from that barn it's been parked in for the last 49 years. Three of the 4 tires actually held air when we unearthed it. The original color was a dark green, with black fenders and running boards. I'll be modifying the truck but with only bolt on stuff so it can go back to 100% original. Look forward to hearing from everyone and slowly as money and time allow fixing this classic up.

73novaguy, welcome to the Stovebolt. Congrats on now owning the '37 as its a neat design. I've had mine since 1994 and will be driving it to Ga. tomorrow.

Hope the pictures go through. This picture was early in the morning so the dew made it look shiny. I think with a carb rebuild, she'll fire up. I just and hear it run and then I'm going to start stripping the body off to blast and paint the frame and drivetrain. My understanding is these 216's weren't the strongest runners and I'm prolly going to get it running and then pull the engine and stick it in a oil bag. To keep all the numbers matching components. I'd actually love to lower the truck slightly and install a 4bt diesel if I could do it with just bolting on or making new motor mounts.

I just picked up my grandfather's '37 this year as well.

Where in Wisconsin are you located?

Southwest corner of the State. A small town called Boscobel. I was going to tear the carb apart this week and try and find a used 6 volt battery, but the carb kit I had for it was wrong. The parts store listed it and I bought it, got home and it was for a Rochester. Lol. Dang. I returned it and they couldn't find the W1 Carter kit. So I might just open it up and clean the best I can, just to see the engine run.
