The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Engine Cowl Windlace - 38 half ton

I purchased a roll of the windlace for the engine cowl from Jim Carter, but it doesn't have the embedded wire. I can install it on the front at the radiator end of the cowl, since it's only about 12 inches only there. However, I don't want to use it at the cab end of the cowl, since it's so long that I won't be able to secure it. Anyone know if the original style with the embedded wire is available? I've checked a few sources but can't locate it. Thanks.

I think I found it on Chevs of the 40s (Item # 374969C). Seems to be reasonably priced, too. Since I made the mistake once already buying the non-wire windlace, any comments on this product?

I bought my 37 stuff years ago from Jcarter and it had the wire in it. Yes, its long and goes down a good ways....and there is a "clip" that fastens the end to the cab/cowl way down low. Mine has lasted years and still looks good but the truck is hardly ever in the bad weather/rain.

I just ran mechanics wire thru mine and it worked great. Bend the leading end over so it dosen't snag and feed it thru. Scott

Sure you can secure it. I used the wireless on my '38. You have a clip on each end & a hook in the middle of the body radius. These pics are of my coupe. The pickup should be similar. The hook is shaped like a "J" with tail being threaded & a nut inside the cab.
