Last night I had the honor of attending an impromptu meeting of the Northern Chapter of the ODSS.

I've been working in the burbs of Philly for a bit and last night I was finally able to get my schedule in line to meet up with our Amtrak Joe.

In our phone conversations Joe mentioned that he met another local bolter Jim Schmidt known here as 53-GreenOneTon.

We all arranged to meet at Joe's shop and Jim said he would pick me up.

I arrive at my hotel to see a stunning 53 3800. I rushed over and introduced myself. Jim has a fine truck. We hopped into his truck and went for a drive. Jim's truck is beautifully painted and runs great.

We then head to Joe's for a shop tour and finally to see his grandfathers truck. Then to my surprise Joe says, let's fire it up!

He fuels his truck, gotta see the pic, and after a few cranks it was running!

Joe said he hasn't started it in a while but the fact it fired so quickly had me impressed.

We hung out at the shop for a bit talking truck then we all went home. It felt good to spend time with Brothers!

Thanks again Jim and Joe for making me feel at home again. Hopefully we can get together again soon.

Northern ODSS Anex Inspection

Mr. SAA -- From looking at the pictures and having seen it in person myself, I believe we need to fine AMtrakjoe at our next official ODSS meeting for being in gross violation of the ODSS standard for shop cleanliness and order!

I agree with your charge. Not for the cleanliness seen in the photos, but rather the large green hulk of sheetmetal by one named four letter automobile manufacturer of inferior products!

I can't thank you enough for the attention and recognition of the ODSS - Northern Alliance.

Jim and I have plans for big plans and we're fixing to get ready for more chapter events. Stay tuned. In the meantime I have to get the green 4-letter vehicle road ready so it can move out and grandpa's 47 can take its place. I have about 50 turns left on my drivers front tire. Just enough to get it into the shop and in the air. Chris showed me the bolts I need to break off in order to remove my fenders and grill (or rusty remains). I also got a steering box lesson for the day I try the cab. I will offer free food and beer and lodging (in the shop) for a teardown if there is any interest. Stay tuned. Stay dry.

By the way, I have been known to consider Dayton Maryland the Northern Annex of the ODSS. I think your shop must be the Extreme Northern Annex or The Northern Annex part B or ODSS Northern Sister Annex or......

I'd be up for a teardown sometime. I'm good at tearing things apart........it's the putting things together I have trouble with!

I say another Stovebolt flag be commissioned and if possible, an ODSS flag with a light dusting of snow.

There is one heck of a flagpole in front of his facility and nothing would make me prouder than to see those flags wave!

It would be a great sight to see a convoy of trucks go up for the ceremonial raising of the colors. I am currently living through you guys since I can't drive my truck yet.

Mr. SAA ... Um ... How do I say this .... You know that I have nothing but the highest esteem and regard for you and your wise cousel, sage advice, commendable skills, inestimable wrenching talents ... Your steady countenance has carried the day on more occasions that I can easily remember. Indeed, the doings and undoings you rogues can tell! And thus it is with great remorse yet I am compelled to warn you in the gentlest fashion known possible to be ... steady, Sir! Take care how you lay charges for ownership of certain marques among us, as I can only surmise that many of our number, our band of Brothers we, count themselves in violation of such an ordinance, were it to be enacted. Some of the merriest and sagest of our band, Sir! Would you call them all out?

You know, Ford ownership doesn't make one a bad person at all. We all know that GM ownership enhances our attractiveness to the fairer gender, and bolsters our , um, (you get the point). But added to that the ownership of an enemy, as it were, ... it just manifests our keen warrior spirit!

I implore you to let it lie. Nothing good can come from it.

I think the fining is a fabulous idea. Plus will be great motivation to get the thing out of the garage and put the fine vintage iron in the garage where it belongs.

Amtrak Joe. By the power vested to me as your Sargeant at Arms of this great ODDS I hereby declare penalties as follows:

One case of fine beer (DB if possible) for each 30 day period that passes that your Chevrolet remains outdoors while the aforementioned other truck is garaged.

This said beer shall be presented to any and all brothers upon arrival to the Morrisville northern annex.

This beer shall remain on the premises until consumed or ordered to an event by any member of the ODSS executive committee.

Mike, he said Brother Sweet is a good man but those of us that gots Stovebolts AND Fords are the bomb!

To be clear, owning a Ferd is not the issue, to each their own. To keep a Ferd in the garage while vintage respectable GM iron is outside is a major violation!!

pardon the interlope, but I'd think keeping the dark side in the dark and displaying the respectable vintage iron in the sunshine [where youse have any of that] is the preferred situation, the reverse would be flaunting the Fwords

Stop, I can't take it...I must confess!!! I, too have one of those "other" trucks. In saying that, I did use it to bring home my true love... No, not my wife, nor kids, but my "53 Green 1- ton . I had to come clean! It was keeping me awake at night holding this in. But to help my cause, I did learn to drive in one of these wonderful advanced design vehicles back on the old farmstead at a mere 13 years of age. So I ask of my peers, does this redeem me from my sin?? If I to have to donate to my penance, I would totally understand!
