It is official, we have lost the keys. I remember my Dad handing them to me the morning we left Wyoming, but after 6 weeks of searching I can't find them.

What are the options for replacement keys? Can a good locksmith cut new keys if I bring the ignition in?

Any concerns about the key blanks through the normal channels?

Any help / ideas welcome.

Absolutely no problem for a GOOD locksmith.

Justin, I always check the "black hole" where everything slides down between the driver seat and the middle section....

martin is correct and most all key men I know have the correct blanks around here.

Do the same keys lock/unlock the door? If not, I suggest you buy an after market ignition switch, such as those made by Standard, find a GM blank(s) and have it cut to the ignition form the key that comes with the ignition. Install the ignition and then you should be OK.

The door lock / handle has the key code on it. I took mine in and had a key cut for the door in a matter of minutes. I would bet the ignition is the same way.

Joe, the replacement door handles Chevrolet made never had a code stamped on them. My guess is this one doesn't or he would have asked about the numbers stamped on the handle. That's why I suggested going in the other direction. If the numbers ARE stamped on the door handle---GREAT---that's all he needs!
