Now the serial numbers do not distinguish between different types of half-ton trucks, so this is the 1000th of all types of half-ton trucks built that year in that plant, correct?

Some say each size truck started with 1001. So there would be a 3100 1001 and a 3600 1001, etc. I have never seen documentation of it being so.

In 1950, Chevrolet truck Serial Numbers started using a sequence number each plant for each "similar basic series", ie 3100, 3600, 3800, etc for each plant.

in 42 it appears to be all series including cars .... while in 46 it's all series for trucks but each series for cars .... and in '58 it's specifically all trucks regardless of series .... it appears each year might be different depending if the manager of the particular plant was paying attention ohwell
