Who makes the bedsides in all of the suppliers catalogs? I don't want to name names but they all seem to be around $350.00 a side.Do all the supliers get them from the same place? If not who has the best? Looking at a pretty good chunk of change to replace the two sides,front panel, and tailgate. 59 stepside shortbed.
Any suggestions? :confused:

I'm bringing this back up so that hopefully someone would make a "suggestion as to the best source of not only bedsides, which I need, but also cab patch panels. I have also wondered if they are all the same or are some better quality and FIT. Thanks

I'm new here so don't shoot me for violating etiquette....but I just finished assembling an AD bed with new parts sourced from Mar-K. Perfect reproductions, everything lines up, excellent quality. Little if any filler needed on the spotwelds. I believe most of the mail order retailers get their bed parts from Mar-K, it's worth asking about. Not cheap, but quality usually isn't.

Thanks for the comment and I don't think it is violating any ettiquete(sp) to comment good or bad on the quality of a product. It helps others of us who may be in need of the parts or product make a better choice

I live about five miles from Mar-K's facility, so I stop by there often. They seem to have a pretty good handle on all bed and wood stuff. They are also nice folks. They never mind me asking 10,000 questions, most times twice.

I'm just waiting for them to make the fleetside bedsides for 60-66s and I'll be in hog heaven.

I have been pricing patch panels, and it seems Mar-K is really reasonable. For example, their inner cab corner is $25, Chevy Duty wants 31.

Have you tried Mack Products out of Moberly Missouri (660-263-7444). They list a 55-72 bed side for $210.00 and $359.00 with stake holes and punched angle strips.
I bought a whole kit for my 37 and had no problems putting it together. It was all first rate. Joe

I currently own a pair of Macks Repo bedsides for my 1952 1/2 ton. I am not going to use them as I am very unhappy w/ the quality of them. They are undrilled for the fenders, and they are fitted very together sloppy. One of my bedsides even has a tear from the press in the metal around the stake pocket. I would not recomend their rear crossmember either as it is just as sloppy, I sold the bed cross members I had bought from them as they were so bad. I replaced them w/ MarK crossmembers. I have found an NOS pass side bedside and would love to find its mate, or a near perfect used one. I would recomend MarK for new bedsides, and plan to use all of their bed products for my truck if my other plans do not work out. I reference to patch panels dont waste your time w/ anything but those made by http://www.keypartsinc.com I just finished the installation rear corners, inner corners, and cowl panels, I was lucky enough to have one NOS inner and outer cowl panel and an Nos Rocker which made the job easy.

Rusty, thanks for the link. Those appear to be some nice panels. It's hard to tell from the pics - do the outer cab corners go all the way (or wrap around) the door pillar?

Chuck, The cab corners wrap around the back of the door piller just like original back skin would have. I also had a pair from another mfg. that I had bought before these came available. Hands down better fit from these. I also used their inner cab corners. I wish I had a chance to use their cab mount cross supports as mine were junk and took a lot of fitting. These were not available when I put mine in. I have heard that these panels were made off templates from a rust free cab by the owner of bowtie bits but I am not sure of the relationship to Keyparts unless they are the ones producing off his templates. It is nice to try to see someone attempt to make a relatively correct patch panel.
The only other panel I wish they made is a Toe board as what is out there will work w/ lots of fitting, but could be much better.

I make some of the patch panels sold by the major venders. I have a inner cab corner that does the bottom 4" (usally all you need) for alot less.You guys with 47-48 trucks can not use the new ones out of China, yours are differant, but we have them. A new part we have out is the bottom or the back of the cab so now you can conect the outerCC with new metal if you need it.Email me with needs. I sell direct to Stovebolters for less.

I purchased a complete bed from Pro-Pick in canada and it was real nice. Scuff and paint .He brought it to a show in NC for me so i did not have to pay shipping. He also sells fiberglass cabs that look to be better quality than the original. I looked a Mar-k and was not very impressed.Lots of work fixing spot welds and ripples.
