I just bought a new dome light and I went ahead and ripped the old one out, but I was wondering how to get the plug and cord of the new one all the way from the back to the hole where it will come out right behind the gas cap and neck. I tried using a wire hanger to push the plug head through, but it keeps getting jammed. Sorry if my wording is a little confusing. Oh ya and the truck is a 62' c10.

I don't know your particular situation, but it's pretty common for us old Millwrights to use the OLD wire to pull the NEW wire.

You can use the old wire to pull a pulling string, then use this string to pull a new wire...sounds confusing, but it's simple if you have any of the original wire intact.

ok well i did what you said and it worked great, but now that i plugged it in, the light stays on all the time. So I was wondering what part do i need now to shut the light off when I shut my door. Sorry, but if you didn't notice I am a newbie to cars, but I'm learning fast! lol

alrght, just so I dont have create another thread, how do you install a speedometer cable?

the cable and not the housing and cable simply pull the cable out of the housing either thru under the dash or out of the transmission side. to undo the speedo side there is a slip clip you have to get undone from the back of the speedometer pretty simple design take your time you will see what I am talkin about. remember to grease the cable liberally before you reinstall.

Into the transmission.
