For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 178 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 178 | I've got new glass for my 3600 without vent windows. The old glass is being tough to remove from the frame and i'm starting to bend the frame(slightly). Should I just break it out, and dig the safety glass out of the channel? Or is it worth prying it loose?

Try some of your favorite penetrating oil in the channel, let it soak for a bit.
Unless someone previous siliconed it in place. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Depending on what is holding it in place, I've had good success with using gasoline to soak it. I FYI...if you break the glass there are some vendors that have the pattern. Not expensive...or maybe some bolters. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 | Stuck in the lift channel or stuck in the door channel? You will have to drop, tilt and remove every fastener in the door to get the glass out of the door. The lift channel comes out with the glass. This page and the one before it are helpful. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1947truck/47ctsm0104.htmGetting the glass out of the lift channel...use the above tips, and take your time.

I went ahead and broke the glass because I already bought the glass from a local glass shop. It appears that the prior install was done with rubber tape and silicone glue. I'm having to hammer and chisel the old glass chunks out by hand, and even with a air hammer and narrow chisel bit. Slow going. Anyone have a paint code for the silver on the window frame? I'll do one side first and then take some before and after pics to post, along with anything I learned. Thanks again bolters.
