Mike,
It will be fine of you all do not order from the group menu, it is just a way to keep the cost down and help in the preparation. We are also looking forward to meeting everyone. Good times!

Peggy -- A French dip?? Are you tired of the Swedish dip you're married to?? That's sounds good to me, too -- the Group One Menu works for me.

Northern Convoy Members -- Google Map is telling me the trip will be 3 hrs and 14 minutes from HQ. Shall we plan on a 4-hour trip (fuel/refreshment/biological break)? Therefore, I propose a departure time from HQ NLT 0700 for Peggy and I. We pick Mike Roache and Sweet up enroute.

Well, from the "Most Northern (VA)" member, you guys and gals have a great and safe trip and meet and greet. It would take me an additional 2+hrs. to get to HQ. Plus, I'm still trying to get Doughboy ready for the HQ trip, which is taking me much longer than expected.

I know Horne's Diner. There by 0800? Yeah, I think so. Still debating Charlie or Gort, though. Gort is better at long distances/Highway speeds ... Charlie is cool ... Peggy's idea about Gort ... I told her no conversation if we take the 2-cycle noise maker smile

Mike -- Do you want to meet up usual spot or just at Horne's?

Decisions decisions.

But there may be lights on 17. Not sure so 50 may be realistic.

Or if you wanna drive Gort, I got a seat for Peggy if she wants!

Ladies and gentlemen,

Well, I'm three bucks to the feed bag. That's 3 hours travel to the restaurant. AND, AND I'm curious to meet as many of the so-called 'French Dips' you speak of. Are they French tourists, French-Americans or a food item? Not sure, my curiosity has gotten the better of me and I'd like to find the answer to the quiz in person.

Any room at table? I'll be bringing my old best friend Ray (my '49 1/2 ton) so I'd be mighty obliged to be considered for a parking spot.

I've decided to travel 'the southern route' through 460 if anyone would like to convoy to the restaurant.

Fondest regards,

Cosmo

I have spoken with the President and all measures and counter measures are go. Motorcade Command is en route, for the President has chosen Lone Wolf as his escort detail.

Looking at the forecast at the moment, it looks like Mother Nature wants to wash all the pollen off everything. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but if it looks like a soaker, does everyone plan to still attend?

8 hrs in the rain isn't the funnest, but just coming in the DailyDriver?

Sweet -- I've just been checking the forecasts for most of the towns between here and Norfolk -- It doesn't look like we get into possible rain until we get south of Tappahannock. And even then, it doesn't really become 50 percent or more until we cross the James. If we only hit rain once we get to Yorktown, I could deal with that, I think -- as long as it isn't too hard of a rain ...

I'm with you, though. Charlie don't surf. I'm not too hip on driving in the rain in a 65-year old truck with vacuum wipers ... I may switch to the Cumminsbolt but I may wait until the morning to decide. If we do that, you are more than welcome to jump in with Peggy and I in Port Royal.

Mr President -- That's why you are *my* personal hero. May I have a signed 8x10 color glossy portrait of yourself striking a heroic poise withwhich to fortify my soul simply by gazing upon it in times of weakness?

For the Northern Neck Convoy -- Looks like we'll be in light rain from Saluda south.

Bread -- What are the current conditions in Norfolk?

Yep, it was a good time. I think Robert & I need to coax you guys up to Yorktown this summer. There's a few great places for a meeting like this: The Yorktown Pub, The new Fuddruckers, Shorty's Diner in Williamsburg, or Heritage Square for Pizza at Vinny's and then the Saturday night summer car corral's!!!

Thanks Bread for taking the time to set up yesterday's gathering. I knew I was in the right place when I arrived and Mario instead of reaching out to shake my hand he bears his ODSS wrench!

I will post my photos when I can, but I met the SoMD crew of John and Pegy a along with Mike and Carey. We then headed down 17 for 140 miles. The drive was great, nice open road with minimal traffic.

I smile everytime I see Old Charlie in the rear view mirror.

We arrived and joined everyone for a great lunch. Good food and better people!

Thanks again Bread and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

TrknGMC,
The food was great, my kids even said that we need to go back. Wish you could of made it as well but there's always next time.

Mobileortho and Safetynut,
I am with y'all, if there is something going on at Yorktown, let us know so I can meet up with you two.

Thank you all for the kind words and I am glad to see everyone made it home safe.

I am really glad that I drove the treacherous 15 miles to Norfolk to meet everyone. My only regret was not having the chance to really give a good look over of everyone's trucks, given the weather. I especially was intrigued by John's (or is it Peggy's) red and black beast. I have never seen nor heard of that model pickup. I will definitely have to make a trip up your way when I can spend more time looking and chatting. Thank you long distance travelers for making the trip for us!.

Gents (and Ladies),

I am jealous that you all got to meet up and drive your trucks. Hopefully, i will be able to get mine closer to drivable by next spring. Maybe, if luck is on my side (and the lottery) I will be able to drive my truck to homecoming (or tow it on a trailer). Great pictures!

Safetynut mentioned a car show coming up at Grafton High I believe in June. We both have sons there so I'll probably go to that. There's also have a weekly gathering of streetrods on Saturdays at one of the shopping centers on 17.

Now if I could just get my hands on one of those ODSS wrenches!!
