I am finally getting my 235 back together again. Over the years I have assembled a number of gasket sets, and I thought I had all I needed. Regarding the gasket that goes between the intake and outtake manifold (from the heat riser) it seems I have three new gaskets that fit a 216 but not the 235. The problem is the narrower bolts on the block side. Since it is a bit of a hassle and several weeks of wait to send the proper gasket to Sweden, why can't I just lop off those two misplaced bolt holes and use my existing gasket. The other two holes will keep the gasket aligned until the bolts are tight, then the gasket shouldn't go anywhere, eh?

Sounds like a good solution. I'd use some hi temp sealer on this to ensure a good seal.

I didn't know there were any Swedes left over there, thought they all moved to my home town of Turlock, Calif.

Best of luck
Jim

Thanks Jim.
My own hometown in Minnesota is so crowded with Swedes that I moved to Sweden for relief.
One other question on the intake manifold, on the 216 there were a couple of holes cast into the upper front to hold the horn. Those holes aren't there on the 235 variety, what the heck will I do with the horn? Anyone got pictures?
Karl

Minor correction: those hole were not there on 235s after around 1954, when the horn-location changed (the style of horn changed in 1953).

Earlier (1941-1953) 235 engines/manifolds had the intakes with "horn holes".

"What you do with an intake manifold that does not have the buss/hole for the horn?" Good question. It will be interesting to see the suggestions.

Will it fit behind the grille? I think that the horn is there on my 40 SD.
