I recently bought this 1949 Chevy 3100 off eBay from a guy in Encampment, WY. First time I've ever purchased a vehicle, or anything near that expensive online, site unseen. Happy to say the truck arrived exactly as advertised, except for the broken passenger windshield that occurred in transit going over the snowy winter passes.

The previous owner did a significant amount of work to the truck, repairing all the normal rust-thru spots in the cap corners, etc. He also completely re-did the interior, replaced all the glass, and refurbished a lot of the truck.

My plan is to keep it as a driver, personally not seeing the benefit of building a garage queen. I need to redo the brakes, exhaust, and bed wood. I'd also like to get the minor body work done that's required and get a fresh coat of paint, though I have to say that's mostly to please the wife.

Greg, looks like you have got yourself a nice daily driver. Congrats on your good luck. I think those wheels look nice on it.
Enjoy it.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks guys. I wish I was retired already, but actually just planning ahead. Probably have another 5+ years to work, but will spend as much time as I can on the truck in the meantime. Really looking forward to the day where I can just putz around in the garage all day long if I want.

The wife - and I agree - would like to paint it dark red with a white/cream cab. We'll probably search thru pictures of other trucks to come to the final decision. I really want to go back to the original wheels & hub caps at some point also, just to get the real "old school" look back.

I'm really enjoying the forums here. Lots of interesting discussions and real world advice. Only problem is not enough time to go do everything I'd like to do to the truck...

Great looking truck, inside and out!
I am recently retired and still don't have enough time to work on my '53 as much as I would like. But she is getting there.
Best of luck!
