Hey guys!!

Let me tell a bit about myself first! I'm
Living in Sweden, but I'm Dutch. I'm 22 years old and bought my dad's old Chevy 3100 from 1951 with a 216 ci inline 6! It's has been standing in the garage for 2 years due to lack of time and a broken down starter.

Engine still wont start, and the brakes are gone, but i hope that with your help i can fix it!

Raoul, the stovebolt is the place to be. Knowledge and great folks are plentiful here. You'll get answers.
Congrats on the '51. Sounds like a great deal and its still in the family. Be sure to take some pictures along the way and post us up one or two when you can.

Hi Raoul, welcome. Sorry, I can't see your pics, are there many stovebolts in Sweden? Check out the international zone on this site, see who is near you.

Swedes love classic amarican oldies, but dont know if there are many stovebolts.. I haven't seen more than 2 over the years, but i havent been to many meetings either.

What part of Sweden? It's a pretty big place. I've got two stovebolts in Skaraborg and a growing stash of parts. Welcome to the site. There is a big car show in Lidköping next weekend, I would expect to see between 500 and 1000 cars, at least one will be a stovebolt.

Say, about that international zone, maybe Raoul would like to see that global map of Stovebolters, maybe even place his own mark. I can never find that link myself, maybe we could make that map easier to find, maybe even place one of those permanent threads on the International Zone to better assist those of us who are looking for The Map. Just an idea...

I know another was started with a Google application.

We haven't really promoted the World page much since it is somewhat outdated. We are looking into something like the Google pin-map deal but not so specific. We don't want people to be able to see you live from satellite while working under your truck. We think it is sufficient just to know who is close by.

It's on the list of things to do. But we do want to do it - think it will be a big help. The World page was a lot of fun when there were less than 6,000 of us!!

That is one of the links, I also planted my location on a map once. This link is a start, but I'll be darned if I can find the link from the home page. Is that what you mean by not promoting it, that it is hard to find? I'm sure you've got enough to do, but a slightly more convenient link from somewhere on the home page (or the International Forum) might be a fine stopgap measure till something better comes along.
Raoul, I saw the name Falkenberg on one of your pictures. That's not so far off...

Joined a few days ago. Had a 1953 five window 30 some years ago but sold it 30 some years ago. Now I can say I'm back in the fold. I just bought a 1940 Chevrolet 1/2 ton. Has the original engine guessing it has 118k but looking at the body before the restoration pictures who knows maybe it's 18k. It was sold new in Idaho. Has the 2 original license plates. Has the original pine bed, transmission. The restoration was a 3 year process that was finished in 1994. I know the histoty from that point to now. I will try an figure out the posting of pictures soon. It now lives in my garage in Gig Harbor Washington. I already have started a list of questions so bear with me. Phil

Yes, that's why it's hard to find (not promoting it). We started it so long ago and Paul kept up with it pretty good, especially as it expanded out to so many continents/countries. Our biggest problem is it has email links. Not a real good idea these days with the way programs can crawl all over a page and pull all the email addresses.

What we are hoping for with the other map idea, is general locations, what kind of truck or interest, and then any link would actually go back to your profile. So, if someone wanted to contact you, they would also have to be a registered member of the site (and not a computer, hopefully). We'd try to incorporate one of those "can you read this" kind of instructions.

Hate to do all this since it really messes up our ability to stay / get connected to one another. But we want to be careful on behalf of our members.

When the question comes up, someone usually remembers where the "World" page is. Perhaps I should add in there someplace when it was last updated ... which really just means additions. I know a lot of email addresses have changed; and I saw right off the bat some of the people (especially the military ones) are not where they are listed.

So ... part of why we made this Side Lot is also a stop-gap attempt until we can get something better.
