Hi Folks,

Saw several questions asked if GM produced and gave away any kind of "Restoration Pack" for GMC Trucks similar to the ones given out for Chevrolet. As for myself, I do not know.

If GM does not have an archive of specification data sheets for the trucks that the public can access, does anyone on the Stovebolt have any from old dealerships? If anyone does, can they be scanned? I can always add them to the Old Online Chevy Manuals site.

Just let me know.

Cheers!

Hopefully someone has some intel on this. I hope to re-do the Tech Tip on the Resto Pack this week so that people can see what changes GM has made and all the free stuff that is now available.

Good work Keith. Hope you can get some help on your end. These manuals and original copies are invaluable.

It would be awesome if anyone out there has info on the Canadian Chevy and GMC trucks as well, as there are differences from the American-made trucks.

Over the past decade, I have received many emails asking about Canadian and other foreign built Chevy vehicles and engine numbers. This is information I do not have.

There was a fella named David Hayward in England that was able to answer those questions and I would forward the emails to him. Unfortunately, he passed away early last year. It would be awesome if someone in England, Canada, Australia or other former British Colony that could set something up with info on GM vehicles outside the USA.

As for myself, I have more than enough on my plate with data for US built Chevys and related vehicles.

Cheers!

Vehicle Information Kits.

Chevrolet Trucks (All Models Not Listed Below) Show

click on 'show' for the older ones.

Those are free to download in .PDF format.

Those are basically not so great scans of the resto-packs they used to mail out.

Tech tips page here on the 'bolt :

GM Chevy Restoration Kit

They charge for the pack now... maybe the information is a better quality, but I don't know anyone who has purchased one. There is also a link for a kit for the Canadian folks.

The one I have for my '65 C10 is just a copy machine document of a bunch of items that are available in shop manuals and other brochures related to that year model.

I just got off the phone with the fellow from the Heritage Center. What a nice guy! (I was a bit affeard he was going to by a lawyer-type and come down and clobber us ... for whatever reason.)

Anyway, they continue to add more and more to their site and will do so as ... just like the rest of us ... as they get time. They have a ton to upload!

AAMOF, you will be happy to hear, they got enough "feedback" (to put it nicely) about charging $50 for copying the kit information, they decided to just start scanning and uploading it.

So ... since I MUST update the Tech Tip on the kit, I wondered if anyone out there would be willing to cruise around the Heritage site and pull some key links that I can list in the Tech Tip. (We went from about a two page tech tip back in 2005, to one page in 2011 ... I think it'll be one paragraph! So, I thought if we can give some examples of what they have up there - as it relates to OUR truck years, that might trigger some activity and pull back the curtain ...).

This is all done. Check the Tech Tips page. We've included a big plug for Keith's site, too.

We will continue the search for Canadian data.

George,

This will be helpful. I'll have to see where I left off with some of this stuff ... as YOU well know, it's been a while. (We'll be working outdoors most of this day - 70 degrees! But the temps drop tonight so that will let me work all day tomorrow on Stovebolt stuff again.)

Steve ... well, I am glad. And I am sorry it took me so long to get this done. If you ever see other things that are out of date, let me know ... as I am back to my regular working hours.
