sorry for the delay.its fixed!it was indeed the lucas regulator that was not compatable with the ac delco regulator.let this be a lesson to you all that some things do not mix!.my local american parts supply outlet got me the correct one within 2 days,but it cost me three times what the lucas one did.but at least it works.thanks for all the input.
