For Deve, first off I am running a V8 with a different crossmember than original.
When I installed my m/c and booster under the floor I did have to cut a notch out to clear the very end of the m/c.
However, I was surprised to find that instead of being hollow inside there was a 1/4" piece of flat steel "standing up" inside the hollow crossmember. When I trimmed out the member I barely had to cut any of that flat steel. I was impressed! The crossmember came from Chassis Engineering.
Now that I plan to put a 700R4 in my panel I will be moving the crossmember back four inches and it will clear the crossmember.
Just FYI... and here is a pic.
