No chance it will work.
A generator works by passing wires through an PERMANENT magnetic field, the generator has magnets bolted inside the case. A generator regulator for the most part controls the flow that comes out of the generator.
An alternator works by passing a wires through an ELECTROMAGNETIC field, its regulator controls the electromagnet.
