scroll down here, that doesn't look like an alt reg, they have 4 connections and says applies to 56-59 GMC
Tim, those 'converter' items appear to limit a 12V alt to 6 or 8V - I had a local shop convert a 12V internal regulated alt to 6V, and he just installed something like that inside to replace the internal regulator
